Make prints using synthetic hair with artist Kedisha Coakley, inspired by our current exhibition The Colour of Anxiety.

Join artist Kedisha Coakley for a printmaking workshop using an unusual material – synthetic hair!

After a short tour of The Colour of Anxiety, you’ll take inspiration from the exhibition and Kedisha’s work to make your own prints. We’ll explore the patterns and textures of Black hair, then use synthetic hair to make colourful prints of the sculptures you’ve seen in the galleries.

Suitable for families with children aged 8+ (due to the materials and tools used, e.g. hot glue). The Colour of Anxiety explores themes of race and slavery, and includes sculptures of the nude female body.

This is an intergenerational workshop – we encourage creativity in all ages! Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the workshop. Please book places for all adults and children that will attend.

Accessibility

Visitors who would prefer a step-free entrance can use the accessible entrance on Cookridge Street, using the lift to bring you onto the ground floor. The workshop will take place in the seminar room on the basement level and you can use a passenger lift to all floors of the building.

You can store pushchairs in the seminar room for the whole event.

Toilets are located just outside the seminar room on the basement level, including baby changing facilities within the accessible and gender-neutral toilet.

We want to make it as easy as possible for all to attend, so please get in touch if you have any access needs that you would like to discuss before the workshop.
