Announcing Sok Song as the 2025 Artist in Residence

We are thrilled to welcome Sok Song as the 2025 Henry Moore Foundation Artist in Residence. Awarded annually to a current or recent MFA student from the Yale School of Art, this month-long residency offers a unique opportunity to explore Henry Moore’s life and legacy.
Song, a rising second-year MFA candidate in painting and printmaking, will be in residence from 15 July to 12 August. His time will be split between our Hertfordshire headquarters and the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds.
“Being in residence at the Henry Moore Foundation will provide me with ideal conditions to further explore the sculptural possibilities of folded impressions and pressure-based printmaking,” Song shared. “I am particularly excited to study Moore’s works on paper and textiles, to experiment in situ, and to extend my own investigations into monumentality, absence, and inherited memory.”
Song’s interdisciplinary practice blends studio experimentation, deep research, and public engagement. His recent work includes a striking series created by pressure-printing graphite through dry-cleaning plastic layered over military uniforms, yielding ghostly, textured impressions that reflect themes of war, memory, and identity.
Currently a Wurtele Gallery Teacher at the Yale University Art Gallery, Song recently completed the summer residency at Yale Norfolk and is a 2024 CCAM Fellow. He also received a Mellon Pedagogy Fellowship at Yale’s Center for the Study of Race, Indigeneity, and Transnational Migration (RITM).
We look forward to supporting Sok Song during his residency and to seeing how Moore’s work continues to inspire new voices in contemporary art.
