New library acquisitions: Winter 2024

Cover of the books Great Women Sculptors and Emii Alrai: The Courtship of Giants.

Over recent months we have added new books and catalogues on British artists, many of them written by curators, academics, artists and fellows who have developed and used our library and archives over the years.

Visit the library to find new publications on Alison Wilding, Henry Moore, Eduardo Paolozzi, Michael Sandle, Jacqueline Poncelet, Hew Locke, Ryan Gander, Simon Starling, Magdalene Odundo, Katrina Palmer, Tony Cragg, Alfred Gruber and Jacqueline Stieger. We are particularly pleased to add catalogues from exhibitions by Dominique White and Emii Alrai whose work will feature in the forthcoming exhibition at the Institute, Fragment and Form.

We are delighted to add to the library a new survey of women sculptors published by Phaidon. Great Women Sculptors brings together some of the many female artists who have shaped the field of sculpture. The book is a wonderful resource to explore sculptors of the past, present and future, including many artists we have worked with at the Institute.

If you are interested in exploring our collections, spending time using the library and archive to develop your research project or artistic practice, you might be interested in applying for a fellowship. The call for applications is now live, the deadline is 10 March. The library and archive are exceptional resources for exploring sculpture and our partnership with Leeds Art Gallery provides access to one of the strongest collections of British sculpture in the country.
