The Henry Moore Foundation and AccessArt are pleased to announce a partnership grounded in our shared belief in the importance of hands-on exploration as a catalyst for learning, and a commitment to inclusivity and opportunity for all in art education.
Together, the Henry Moore Foundation and AccessArt aim to create meaningful opportunities for teachers and young people to engage deeply with art through making, conversation, and collaborative exploration.

The partnership will centre around two main events:
Event 1: A brand-new teacher network: The Learning Through Making Educator Network

A brand-new teacher network, co-led by AccessArt and the Learning and Engagement team at Henry Moore Studios & Gardens.
The Learning Through Making Educator Network aims to bring teachers of key stages 1, 2, 3, 4 together each term to provide an inspiring opportunity for educators to connect, share practice, and develop approaches which can be taken back to the classroom.

Sketchbooks as Tools for Transformation

‘Sketchbooks as Tools for Transformation’ is a welcoming symposium for teachers of all levels of experience, teaching key stage 1, 2 and 3. This event is specifically aimed at teachers who may not usually attend conferences or other arts and making events.
Led by AccessArt and the Henry Moore Foundation in their Learning Studios at Perry Green, the day will explore how sketchbooks provide pupils with a powerful opportunity for exploration, experimentation, transformation and reflection, nurturing curiosity and creativity in all learners.
Set within the context of Henry Moore’s work and legacy at the stunning Perry Green studios, the symposium will also consider how artists of all disciplines use drawing and sketchbooks to develop ideas over time, observing, collecting, revisiting and reshaping thoughts and documenting learning through material exploration.
Supported by AccessArt’s extensive expertise in this area, participants will have the opportunity to connect Moore’s processes with contemporary approaches to creative learning, discovering practical ways sketchbooks can support deeper engagement, inclusivity and creative independence across all education phases and settings.
This day of discovery aims to empower teachers with the practical strategies necessary to explore and teach the process of sketchbooking in the classroom. Teachers will return to their students feeling inspired and refreshed after a day of creative exploration.

About the Henry Moore Foundation
The Henry Moore Foundation was founded by the artist and his family in 1977 to encourage public appreciation of the visual arts.
Today we support innovative sculpture projects, devise an imaginative programme of exhibitions and research worldwide, and preserve the legacy of Moore himself: one of the great sculptors of the 20th century, who did so much to bring the art form to a wider audience.
We run two venues, in Leeds and Hertfordshire, showing a mix of Moore’s own work and other sculpture.
We also fund a variety of sculpture projects through our Henry Moore Grants and Research programmes and we have a world-class collection of artworks which regularly tour both nationally and internationally.
A registered charity, we award grants to arts organisations around the world, with a mission to bring great sculpture to as many people as possible.
About Henry Moore Studios & Gardens
Henry Moore Studios & Gardens is the former home and work-place of sculptor Henry Moore (1898-1986). From 1940 until his death in 1986, Moore lived and worked in rural Hertfordshire where he acquired over 70 acres of land and set up various studios, creating the ideal environment in which he could make and display his work and cater to an international demand for exhibitions.
Now open to visitors, Henry Moore Studios & Gardens offers a unique insight into the artist’s working practice and showcases a large selection of Moore’s renowned monumental sculptures in the landscape in which they were created. It is home to the Henry Moore Archive, one of the largest single-artist archives in the world.

We are open Wednesday to Sunday and Bank Holidays, 11:00–17:00
