Take a break like Henry Moore

Henry Moore was known for his disciplined work ethic and routine. One important aspect of his routine was his eleven o’clock coffee break. Moore believed in the importance of structure and regularity in his daily life, which he felt contributed to his productivity as an artist.

This break provided him with an opportunity to step away from his work, clear his mind and gain a new perspective. Additionally, it served as a social ritual, often shared with studio assistants, friends and family allowing for informal discussions and exchanges of ideas.

While some might view a coffee break as a minor aspect of daily life, for Moore, it was a crucial part of his creative process. By adhering to this routine, he maintained balance and sustained his creative energy throughout the day.

That might have been a long time ago now but this tradition has carried on to this day at the Henry Moore Foundation and it is something that staff are encouraged to continue to maintain their wellbeing.

There are so many pressures in our lives, we want everyone to adopt this approach and are calling for people to reclaim their coffee break.

To celebrate the reopening of the refurbished Henry Moore Institute and the launch of our new enhanced shop, we have teamed up with North Star coffee roasters to create a new eleven o’clock blend to make taking that break just a little bit easier.
