Adult workshop (age 16+)
Agency of Objects with Olivia Bax and Artist Students in Residence
14:00–15:00
Studios & Gardens, Hertfordshire

Consider the secret lives and thoughts of objects through playful writing experiments in this artist-led workshop.
Henry Moore is well known for being inspired by natural objects, which he collected and used in material experiments and as an aid in sculpture making.
In this workshop, led by sculptor Olivia Bax and students from Camberwell College of Arts, we’ll respond to a collection of objects that might be inspiring, unusual, everyday or handmade. Many of the object have been brought in by the students, or created by other participants throughout the residency week.
You’ll also be introduced to the idea of ‘Speculative Realism’ – the rejection of humans as superior ‘subjects’ over non-human ‘objects’.
Take time to imagine, invent and create new narratives about all that’s around us!
This event is part of a collaborative project that explores interconnectedness in the arts and how everyday encounters shape our ideas, experiences and relationships.
