Explore encounters through an exclusive screening of unique film footage from the Henry Moore Archive’s extensive moving-image collection.

Join us for a screening of The Culture Show Special: Henry Moore presented by Alan Yentob – a rich documentary that traces the life, work and evolving public image of one of Britain’s most recognisable post-war artists. First broadcast in 2010 to coincide with his Tate Britain retrospective, the film explores Moore’s journey from radical sculptor to international cultural figure.

A celebration of Moore’s work and life, the film blends archival footage, personal interviews and critical reflection, his creative process, large-scale commissions, and artistic legacy. Presented by Alan Yentob, the documentary explains how Moore became one of the first artists to embrace film and television as a way to share his work with a wider public. From early appearances in Jill Craigie’s Out of Chaos (1944), to programmes such as Monitor and Face to Face, and through his long-standing collaboration with film-maker John Read.

The film features key moments from Moore’s career, interviews with Mary Moore and assistants Anthony Caro, Richard Wentworth, Derek Howarth, and others who knew, worked with, or were inspired by him – offering a personal insight into the man behind the work.

Presenters: Laura Barlow, Senior Curator of Collections and Research and Emma Sharples, Collections Researcher
