About this event

Art Socials are informal, sociable sessions for teachers and art educators of all kinds run by Leeds Art Gallery and Henry Moore Institute.

We aim to provide a space for teachers and educators to be creative, collaborative and experimental, giving you inspiration to take back into teaching settings.

Join us for a hands-on session exploring the ideas and materials of our current exhibition Sagarika Sundaram: Reservoir.

Sundaram uses felted wool to create monumental sculptures which explore wool’s strength, weight, texture and ‘clothness’. We’ll consider her work from a variety of perspectives: what is soft sculpture? How do we experience it? How can it add to our understanding of three-dimensional art?

After spending time up close with artworks to develop our sculptural thinking, we’ll head to the Studio to experiment with wool and wire in both its raw and felted state, and consider the role of scale and maquettes in the development of soft sculptures.

Tickets

Art Socials are free, informal sessions for teachers and art educators of all kinds. They are run in partnership between Leeds Art Gallery and Henry Moore Institute.
