Join us for the exclusive first screening of artist Shaun C. Badham’s film A Journey of The Spaces In-Between, and hear more about Shaun’s Encounters of Henry Moore Studios & Gardens while making it.

Shaun’s film was inspired by a recent artist-led walk he held on the summer solstice, stopping to discuss twelve locations across the site.

Following the screening, Shaun will be joined by Jes Fernie for an in conversation exploring the themes of the film. Topics of discussion will include perspectives on im/permanence, the role of public art, adaptable architecture, rights of way, what we can learn from animals as audiences and more.

Jes Fernie is a writer, curator, lecturer and mentor to many sculptors, as well as the creator of Archive of Destruction, documenting emotive encounters and significant shifts in public sculpture.

Together Shaun and Jes will draw on moments where their own paths have crossed, the journeys of discovery they have been on with their creative practices, and their explorations of socio-political and environmental narratives about art and our surroundings.

About the speakers

Shaun C. Badham

Shaun C. Badham is an artist who lives in Essex. He received a BA in Fine Art from University West of England in Bristol (2012), and and MFA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London (2017).

Often responding to the socio-political, historical and human attributes of a given site, Shaun instigates long-term collaborative projects that are realised across different mediums, from local community actions to large-scale sculptural installations.

Notable projects include I’M STAYING (2014, ongoing); MORNING (2014-18) and PLOT (2018-21). With a research led practice and an emphasis on process, moments of public activity tend to facilitate investigation and dialogue surrounding the project, whether that’s via an exhibition, sculpture, group walk, a book or a workshop.

Shaun has presented work with numerous organisations including, Arnolfini, Centre of Contemporary Art, Bristol Biennial, Annka Kultys Gallery, South Kiosk, Kestle Barton, Letrangere Gallery, Sculpture in the City, Focal Point Gallery, House of Annetta and Firstsite.
