Join our 2024 Artist in Residence, Purvai Rai,  for a drop-workshop using paper strips and glue to demonstrate the basics of tapestry weaving.

Find out more about how Henry Moore’s tapestries, on display in our Aisled Barn, were made and create your own colour combinations and patterns in this fun, immersive activity.

The workshop will take place in two, one-hour sessions. We will provide all the materials and instructions, no prior experience of weaving is necessary. Entry is included in an annual ticket and there’s no need to book in advance. Suitable for all ages, everyone is welcome but children must be accompanied by an adult.

About the artist

We are thrilled to welcome Purvai Rai as our 2024 Artist in Residence, as part of our ongoing ongoing partnership with Yale Center for British Art and Yale School of Art. Purvai is spending a month at Henry Moore Studios & Gardens, working with our collections and archive teams.

Purvai is a a mixed media artist based out of New Haven, Connecticut, and New Delhi. She is interested in the interplay between memory, identity and materiality, in oral histories and in archives. During her time at the Henry Moore Foundation, she will focus on Henry Moore’s unique tapestries and on our extensive archive collections.
