Imaginary Beings: Sensory Sculpture Workshop for Families

Drop in any time between 10:30–12:30 and 13:30–15:30

Henry Moore Institute, Leeds

This event has passed

Two young boys sat at a table sculpting with clay.

Engage your senses as we work with recycled paper to make non-toxic paper-clay. Feel the textures, mould shapes, and create your very own imaginary beings.

This workshop will provide a safe, fun, and creatively stimulating environment for families to explore the world of sculpture-making using recycled materials, inspired by the vibrant abstract art of John Hoyland.

You can see Hoyland’s work on display in our current exhibition, John Hoyland: Imaginary Beings.

Free, no booking necessary

This event is free of charge and no booking is required, just drop in any time between 10:30–12:30 and 13:30–15:30.

Get ready to get your hands dirty! We will provide aprons to ensure a playful, creative experience. Please note the highly sensory nature of the materials and processes, including the use of cold and room temperature water.

Suitable for families with children aged 3+. This is an intergenerational workshop – we encourage creativity in all ages! Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the workshop.

Accessibility

The workshop will take place in the Studio, our new workshop space on the second floor of the building.

We want to make it as easy as possible for all to attend, so please get in touch if you have any access needs that you would like to discuss before the workshop.
