Come and create at this outdoor workshop, using air to construct large-scale inflatable sculptures!
Artist Tyrone Vera invites you to take inspiration from Henry Moore’s renowned sculptures, whilst helping you to think about scale, shape, geometry, and sensory play. Together we’ll use air as a material, to create your own air-filled artworks.
Reflecting Moore’s philosophy that “The observation of nature is part of an artist’s life, it enlarges his form-knowledge, keeps him fresh and from working only by formula, and feeds inspiration” the workshop encourages young artists to observe and incorporate natural shapes and rhythms into their scalable outcomes.
Recommended for children aged 3+ and their families, we encourage intergenerational activity. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
This event is part of our Inspiration, Sculpture and Our Natural World season

About Tyrone Vera
Tyrone Vera is currently living and studying in London. Tyrone was born in Gibraltar, and then moved to Plymouth UK, to study for his degree in 3D Design Crafts. Upon graduating with a First Class Honours, he moved to London to continue his studies by undertaking a Masters in Sculpture at the Royal College of Art.
Vera is a mixed media artist, maker and researcher whose work explores the themes of the physiology of touch and play. This curiosity guides his interest in creating tactile objects for the benefit of the user, whether that is visual, mental or physical, supported by psychological and pedagogical theory. He has a keen interest in Brutalist architecture which has inspired him to use this geometry as inspiration within his work. In his practice he challenges the antiquated curatorial phrase ‘Do Not Touch’ by allowing everybody to interact with his work, to realise the importance of this sense that seems to be taken for granted. He aspires to pass on his knowledge and passion for art and design to future generations and hopes that he will be able to teach students in this field. Vera has exhibited work in Gibraltar and the UK, recently showing at Tottenham Hale, Shoreditch and is now showing at the RCA, Battersea.
