Education group visit & workshop
Sculptural Encounters: workshops for local schools (KS2)
9:45–13:00
Studios & Gardens, Hertfordshire
About this event
Engage, inspire and challenge your students with these workshops looking at 2D and 3D making. The sessions aim to encourage creativity and experimentation using a range of activities and materials.
During the session your students will use 2D and 3D making techniques, and consider ways of seeing art in the everyday, using the unique resources on our site. They will interact with the outdoors, sculptures, and visit Henry Moore’s Maquette Studio, where he did his creative thinking, small model making and collected inspirations he found in the everyday natural environment.
Your group will develop sculptural skills, be introduced to figurative and abstract ideas and language, and gain knowledge of a great artist in a historical and cultural context.
We have developed this workshop in response to this year’s theme of Encounters. Students will be able to record their experiences and observations, produce a small model maquette from terracotta clay to take back to school, and develop visual literacy in relation to their own lives and local area.
