Two children are playing with a selection of foam shapes, stacking them to make a sculpture.

Our popular Soft Sculpt sessions return for half term! Drop in and enjoy freely shaping, squishing, stacking, scaling, and balancing your own soft sculptures in the Sheep Field Barn.

Do you think you can make something like what you’ve seen outside, or a totally original creation of your own? Feel the textures, notice the tones and watch the materials transform before your eyes!

Friendly members of our team will be there to give you any help you might need. They can also show you some of Henry Moore’s original tools and share a little more about how he made his inspirational artworks that you’ll see during the rest of your visit.

A family of three children and one woman, playing together with a tower made from foam shapes. The woman is balancing a small foam disc on the smallest child's head.
A young woman in a flowery dress is building a sculpture from pieces of white packing foam. She is smiling as she adds the second to last block to her construction; the sculpture is now almost as tall as she is.
Hannah Lines' interactive sculpture.

We’re pleased to include a locally made interactive artwork as part of Soft Sculpt, created by teacher Hannah Lines from Frances Bardsley Academy for Girls, Romford.

We like how her scalable sculpture shares some thought-provoking similarities with Moore’s own ways of working. After a visit to Henry Moore Studios & Gardens last year, Hannah was inspired to make this sculpture for an ARTIST Educators exhibition. Feel free to ask our team more about it when you visit!
