Research library & archive
What’s in the library & archive?
Our library and archive offer unparalleled access to material on sculpture, with more than 30,000 books, journals and audio-visual material.
Some of our holdings are completely unique, such as our Archive of Sculptors’ Papers. These collections document the working lives of sculptors from the nineteenth century to the present day, containing photos, letters, sketchbooks, and even tools and costume.
The library and archive are free to use and all visitors are welcome.
Schools, families & groups
Schools & group visits
We welcome schools, colleges, universities and community groups for free guided tours of our exhibitions and research facilities. Our educational activities provide excellent opportunities for focused and enriching learning experiences.
Families
Borrow an Explorer Bag to take around our exhibitions, filled with objects and activities for younger visitors. We also run drop in events and artist led workshops for families and young people.
Accessibility
We aim to make our exhibitions, collections, facilities and services accessible to the widest possible audience.
Getting here
Find us in the centre of Leeds, next door to Leeds Art Gallery on The Headrow. We’re only a few minutes’ walk from Millennium Square, Leeds City Museum and the shopping areas of Briggate, Leeds Trinity and the Victoria Quarter.
