About this activity
Seeding Event
Sunday 5 April
Come along on Easter Sunday to sow the seeds of our next family sculpture! Our Gardens Team will nurture your seeds throughout Spring until they grow into flowers.
You’re invited back in May to help plant these flowers in a mesh sculpture, inspired by Moore. The flowers will grow up and around the wire to make a colourful and floral family sculpture.
The sculpture will be fabricated by the Learning and Engagement team and will replicate the winning design of the Growing Moore & Summer Makers Sculpture Competition – see below for how to take part!
Growing Moore & Summer Makers Sculpture Competition
5 April – 17 May
Would you like to see your Moore-inspired sculpture designs come to life in the form of a growing, collaborative sculpture? Well now is your chance!
Find one of our competition sheets, available on site from 5 April until 17 May. The winning design will be announced on socials, where you will be able to track the progress of both the growing sculpture and the giant family collaborative piece.
Come back and visit us to get involved in making both of these pieces in our Learning Studios and in the gardens.
Planting Event
Sunday 31 May
Join us in the gardens to plant our budding flowers in the mesh sculpture. Return in the coming months to watch this creation grow from seed into sculpture!
Tickets
Entry is included in an annual ticket. This event is drop-in, so there’s no need to book. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
- If you already have an annual ticket, just come along on the day and bring your annual ticket with you.
- If you don’t have an annual ticket, you can buy one online or from the ticket desk when you arrive.
An annual ticket lets you return to Studios & Gardens as often as you like, during open season, for 12 calendar months.
Safety & accessibility
Children must be accompanied by adults, to ensure the safe use of the materials on offer during these sessions.
These sessions are suggested at ages 4+, however younger visitors may also take part at their guardians’ discretion. The sessions are widely self-led and so designed with all ages and abilities in mind.
Activities can be altered based on the needs of the participant. Please speak to a member of staff in the Learning Studios to request any necessary adjustments.
You will get muddy in the planting sessions, so please dress in clothes that you don’t mind getting messy! Sturdy footwear is recommended.
