Drop-in workshop
Summer Makers
12:00–16:00
Studios & Gardens, Hertfordshire
Included in an annual ticket
About this activity
Summer Makers returns over the school summer holidays by popular demand!
Join us in the Learning Studios to make a giant collaborative sculpture, inspired by Moore’s own works on site.
This season we have an exciting addition to Summer Makers, in that we will be making directly from the winning design of the Growing Moore & Summer Makers Sculpture Competition, chosen earlier this year and announced via social media.
Workshop sessions
Every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in August
In this series of workshops over the holidays, we’ll collaboratively make a giant sculptural piece. When it’s finished, we’ll display it in the grounds alongside Moore’s monumental bronze works.
After taking part in the on-site making challenge, we’ll give you a small bag of recycled materials to take home, with instructions on how to make your own small sculpture.
Celebrate the finished sculpture
Saturday 29 – Monday 31 August
Come back to celebrate the finished collaborate sculpture with us. Pose your home-made figure inside the larger sculpture for a great photo op, just like Moore’s Internal/External Form sculptures!
The winner of The Summer Makers Sculpture Design competition will receive a special prize upon the completion of the collaborative sculpture!
Tickets
Entry is included in an annual ticket. This event is drop-in, so there’s no need to book. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
- If you already have an annual ticket, just come along on the day and bring your annual ticket with you.
- If you don’t have an annual ticket, you can buy one online or from the ticket desk when you arrive.
An annual ticket lets you return to Studios & Gardens as often as you like, during open season, for 12 calendar months.
Safety & accessibility
Children must be accompanied by adults, to ensure the safe use of the materials on offer during these sessions.
These sessions are suggested at ages 4+, however younger visitors may also take part at their guardians’ discretion. The sessions are widely self-led and so designed with all ages and abilities in mind.
Activities can be altered based on the needs of the participant. Please speak to a member of staff in the Learning Studios to request any necessary adjustments.
You might get messy in these sessions, so please don’t wear your best clothes! Sturdy footwear is recommended.
Some of these sessions are expected to take place outdoors, so please pack hats, suncream and plenty of fluids for hot weather days.
