Celebration
You're invited: a creative family celebration for Henry Moore's birthday
Studios & Gardens, Hertfordshire
Included in an annual ticket
About this event
Join us at Henry Moore Studios & Gardens this July for a special celebration marking the birthday of one of Britain’s greatest sculptors. Born 128 years ago, Henry Moore’s remarkable legacy continues to inspire generations of artists and visitors from around the world.
On Thursday 30 July, families, art lovers and curious minds of all ages are invited to enjoy an afternoon of creativity, cake and sculpture.
Carving workshop
Drop in between 13:00 and 16:00 to take part in Collaborative Carving – a hands-on workshop exploring sculpture through a shared creative process, all included in your ticket.
Ever wanted to try carving your own sculpture? This is your chance. Working with plaster blocks, participants will begin carving before regularly swapping their piece with another participant, who will continue developing the work. By the end of the session, each participant will take home a unique sculpture created through the contributions of several different people, demonstrating how collaboration can shape the creative process in unexpected ways.
Birthday cake
To mark the occasion, we’ll also be serving 128 slices of birthday cake, one for every year since Henry Moore’s birth. Enjoy a complimentary slice with every drink purchased in the Café, while stocks last.
Come and celebrate the life and enduring legacy of Henry Moore in the beautiful Hertfordshire landscape he called home. Explore the artist’s former home and studios, discover his monumental sculptures in the grounds, and experience the place that inspired so much of his extraordinary work.
